Edits4All is an app and website from Edits4All B.V. Here you can read which data we process about you, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and what your rights are. We keep it as short and clear as we can.
Who we are
Edits4All B.V. is responsible for processing your data, as meant in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Questions about your privacy? Email us at support@edits4all.com. Our address is at the bottom.
What data we process
Your account: your email address, your name if you fill it in, the app language and whether you sign in with email or with Apple. If you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us a fixed code for your account and the email address Apple passes on (this can be a private relay address from Apple).
Signing in: we have no passwords. You sign in with a 6-digit code we send to your email address. We only store that code in encrypted form. To stop misuse, we count for one hour how often a code was asked for an email address and from a network address (IP address).
Your videos: the clips you record or upload, what is said in them (the transcript, with times), the shorts the app makes from them, still pictures for your timeline and cover, and your edits. Also the title, the captions, the video description, the product name and the product card (a crop from your own video).
Your templates: the look of your captions and, if you fill them in, your brand name, names that must be spelled right, your logo and fixed hashtags.
Scripts: if you have a script written, we look up public information about the product you name. Only the product name and your short description are used for that. We keep the product information, so another version needs no new search.
Your plan and credits: which plan you have, whether you pay monthly or yearly, your trial, your credits and what you used them for, and what you bought. Also how many shorts you made in total and how many minutes of footage that was, for the time you saved. That number stays when you delete a short.
Your affiliate code: a random code that says nothing about you, who used it and which bonus credits that gave.
Notifications and newsletter: which notifications you have on and whether you want the newsletter. When you switch the newsletter on or off, we keep when you did it, where in the app and which text you saw. That way we can show what you chose.
Help: your questions to the help assistant in the app, and messages you send us and our replies, with your email address if you fill it in, your phone type and the app version.
Technical: like any online service, our server sees your IP address and the time of each request. We only use that to run and protect the service.
What we don’t do
We don’t sell your data and don’t use it for ads. There are no ad or tracking tools from others in the app.
We don’t use your videos to train AI models of our own.
We don’t ask for your location or your contacts. We only use the camera and microphone when you record in the app yourself. In your photo library we only see the videos you pick.
Why we do this
To provide the app, as agreed with you: your account, making and keeping your shorts, share links, your credits and your plan, and helping you when you ask us something.
With your consent: the newsletter, push notifications and access to your camera, microphone and photos. You can withdraw that consent at any time, in the app or in your phone’s settings.
Because we have a legitimate interest: protecting the service and stopping misuse (such as the limits on sign-in codes and affiliate codes), finding bugs and improving the app.
Because the law requires it: we keep payment records for the tax authorities.
AI in the app
We use AI to make your short. Your clips are transcribed, and the AI picks the best parts and writes titles, captions, video descriptions and scripts. The help assistant also works with AI.
The AI makes no decisions about you: it only edits your video. You decide what to do with it and what to post.
Who we share data with
We work with a few parties that process data for us. They only do so for the task below and under the agreements we made with them.
ElevenLabs turns the sound of your clips into text.
Anthropic (Claude) picks the best parts, writes titles, texts and scripts, looks up product information and answers your questions to the help assistant. For that it gets the transcript, your brief, the product name or your question.
Apple and Google handle Sign in with Apple, payments and plans in the app, and push notifications.
Resend sends our emails, such as your sign-in code. [Newsletter service: to be chosen.]
Pixabay supplies free stock videos as B-roll. For that it only gets a few search words the AI picks, such as “kneading dough”, never your clips or data about you.
Our hosting provider stores your files and runs share links. [Provider and country: to be chosen, preferably in the EU.]
A payment provider handles payments on the website. [To be chosen.]
Under their business terms, ElevenLabs and Anthropic do not use what they get through us to train their AI. [To be checked per party.] Beyond that, we only give data to others when the law requires us to.
Data outside the EU
Some of these parties are in the United States. We then use the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission, so your data is just as well protected there. [To be checked per party.]
Sharing and posting
If you make a share link, anyone with that link can watch your short in the browser without signing in. The link is a long code nobody can guess. If you switch the link off or delete the short, it stops working.
If you post a short to TikTok or YouTube, the app saves the video to your photos and opens that app. There you choose the video description, who can see it and whether to post it. We get no access to your TikTok or YouTube account: we can’t sign in, can’t post for you and can’t read anything from your account.
How long we keep data
Sign-in codes: 10 minutes, and they only work once. The counters against misuse: one hour.
Your account and what belongs to it, such as your templates and settings: as long as your account exists.
Your original clips (what you recorded or uploaded) and what the app made from them to be able to edit your short: 30 days after the upload. After that you can still watch, save and share the short, but not edit it any more.
Your shorts: 30 days after you made them, when “Delete shorts after 30 days” is on (Profile, under Storage; it is on by default). When it is off, we keep them until you delete them or until your storage is full. Every plan comes with storage for your shorts; when it is full, we delete your oldest short. Without a plan this is always on: your shorts then stay at least 30 days after your plan ended, and you get one email 7 days before the first one goes.
If you delete a short, we also delete the clips, the pictures and the share links of that short.
Your questions to the help assistant: 90 days. Messages to us and our replies: as long as your account exists.
If you delete your account (Profile, at the bottom), we erase your account, your shorts, your clips, your templates, your share links, your credits and your messages. They are gone from our backups within [30] days.
What you bought, when and for how much, we keep for 7 years because tax law requires it. Also when you delete your account.
Security
We protect your data as you may expect: connections are encrypted, we store no passwords and sign-in codes only in encrypted form, share links can’t be guessed, and only people who need it for their work can reach your data. Our team sees your account details in a protected admin area and only uses them to help you, stop misuse and keep the service running. If something goes wrong anyway, we report it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority and, if it affects you, to you as well.
Your rights
You may view your data, have it corrected or deleted, have its processing restricted, take it to another service and object to a processing. You can withdraw a consent at any time.
You can do a lot yourself in the app: change your name and email address, switch off the newsletter and notifications, delete shorts and delete your whole account. For anything else, email us at support@edits4all.com. We answer within one month.
Not happy with how we handle your data? Please tell us first. You can also file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or with the data protection authority in your own country.
Age
The app is for people aged 16 and over. If you are younger, please don’t use the app. If we find out an account belongs to someone under 16, we delete it.
Changes
We update this policy when the app or the law changes. The date of this version is at the top. For big changes we let you know in advance, in the app or by email.
The website
On edits4all.com we use no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics.
When you sign in on the website, your browser keeps a sign-in key (in local storage) so you stay signed in. Sign out and it’s gone.
If you buy credits on the website, a payment provider handles the payment [Payment provider, e.g. Mollie: to be chosen]. We never see your bank or card details; we only keep what you bought, when and for how much.
If you sign up for the newsletter on the website, we keep your email address, your language, and when and with which text you signed up. You first get an email to confirm your sign-up; without that click we send you nothing. You can unsubscribe any time with the link at the bottom of every email. We then delete your email address from the list.
